NBR, EPDM, FKM and silicone: screening is not final material approval
A polymer family only creates a candidate list. Final selection must combine the exact medium, temperature, pressure, motion, assembly conditions and sample validation.

Candidate material comparison
| Material | Common screening direction | Conditions to exclude |
|---|---|---|
| NBR | A candidate for some oil-related sealing duties | Exact oil, temperature and outdoor ageing exposure |
| EPDM | A candidate for outdoor, water and some hot-water or steam duties | Oil contact, compound formulation and long-term temperature |
| FKM | A candidate for some high-temperature, fuel or chemical duties | Steam, low temperature, amines and grade-specific limits |
| Silicone | A candidate for wide-temperature, soft or selected clean-service duties | Tear, abrasion, pressure and fluid compatibility |

FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can I request a review without a complete drawing?
Yes. Send sample photographs, key dimensions, assembly position, medium, temperature, motion and quantity. The technical review can list the missing inputs.
Is a polymer family enough to approve a seal material?
No. NBR, EPDM, FKM and silicone are candidates. The exact medium, temperature, pressure, motion, assembly gap and validation requirements must be checked.
Do generic material properties prove certification or service life?
No. Certification, temperature limits and life claims require evidence for the exact compound, drawing, regulation and test conditions.
